Introduction to Summer Fellowship 2016</h1>
<strong>Welcome to the Daayitwa Summer Fellowship 2016!</strong><br />
Nepal has an immense potential for economic growth and development.
One of the critical opportunity our generation faces is in how we
capitalize on these potentials and mitigate risks to contribute to
individual, community and national development. Our collective talent,
energy and passion can contribute tremendously in any sector we choose
to release our entrepreneurial spirit. This was also demonstrated in the
aftermath of the April 2015, 7.9 magnitude earthquake, which took more
than 8,800 lives and caused $6 billion of damage and losses. The
tremendous youth response, marked by creativity, solidarity and agility,
during the time after earthquake, has demonstrated that nurturing youth
leadership can bring about positive transformation for a resilient,
thriving and prosperous Nepal. As Nepal moves towards state
restructuring and economic prosperity needed to realize the aspirations
of the new constitution, the urgency for a change in national mindset is
now higher than ever – we need to move from dependency to collaboration
and from desperation to innovation.<br />
A highly nurturing entrepreneurship ecosystem is required for
developing an enterprising mindset and effective enterprise development.
For this to happen, a host of different actors and stakeholders have to
work together in symbiotic and synergistic collaboration. The Daayitwa
Summer Fellows 2016 will dissect and stitch together the challenges and
opportunities in a range of dimensions of these issues. The common goal
of the team is to promote leadership and innovation in governance for
creating an enabling environment that promotes economic prosperity and
inclusive growth by harnessing the values of collaboration, innovation
and service.<br />
More specifically, fellows will work closely with a partnering
government agency at either national or local level, a member of
parliament or a parliamentary committee. This way, fellows will
collaborate, innovate and serve rising above the institutional,
geographical, political and power-sharing boundaries to fulfill a common
goal for national importance.<br />
<strong>ACTION</strong><br />
Daayitwa Fellowship’s action focus is on three domains described below:<br />
<strong>1. Research and Analytic Advisory Support</strong><br />
Daayitwa Fellows leverage their analytical and critical thinking
abilities, international and national academic and professional
training, creativity and adaptive leadership to work
shoulder-to-shoulder with Members of Parliaments and various public
agencies to solve their critical challenges within a defined scope of
work. As technical policy advisors, the Fellows may undertake
initiatives in one or more of the following domains of ‘Democratic Chain
of Engagement’ domains.<br />
<strong>2. Enhancement of Adaptive Leadership Capability and Critical Skills</strong><br />
<ul>
<li>To equip Daayitwa Fellows with technical tools and contextual
knowledge, the following capacity enhancement support will be
provided:Introductory course on governance and legislation process of
Nepal.</li>
<li>The team of Fellows will partake a series of leadership exercise
developed in collaboration with professors at Harvard Center for Public
Service.</li>
<li>The Fellows will receive technical and adaptive skills enhancement
trainings for strengthening the team’s capacity to undertake analytical
and operational work more effectively and efficiently :</li>
</ul>
-Training on scientific methodologies for undertaking engagement activities.<br />
-Effective communication and relationship building skills.<br />
-Writing skills for report, briefs, blog, peer-reviewed journals, wiki, and media outlets.<br />
<strong>3. Synergistic Collaborations</strong><br />
The Daayitwa Fellowship entails, a close collaboration, a
relationship built on trust and solidarity, and apolitical embracement
of shared – Daayitwa towards the constituencies and citizens of Nepal.
As such, MPs, public bodies and Daayitwa Fellows will synergistically
embark on a journey of learning and adaptive leadership development
critical for innovation in producing results.<br />

<h3>
Overview</h3>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;">SEALNet
Project Cambodia 2016 - Siem Reap is a 2-week program focusing on
empowering the at-risk children of trafficking to become future leaders
of their community. We are searching for dynamic youngsters all over the
world to be the mentors conducting this mission in Summer 2016.</span></div>
</div>
<div class="section overview details">
<h3>
Details</h3>
<h4 style="margin-bottom: 17px;">
Description:</h4>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;">Human
trafficking, addressed as modern day slavery – it involves the movement
of men, women and/or children by means of deception, coercion or threat
for the purposes of exploitation. Persons who suffer from many forms of
exploitation, although rescued, might never be able to escape the
reoccurring trauma in their minds. Governments, organizations, civil
societies and activists around the world are actively involved in the
process to end this crime—prevention, rescue, and rehabilitation. That
being said, it does not mean that we cannot do anything to ease the
pain. Instead, we have to do even more. Simply because we can. Rescue
and rehabilitation require much longer time to take effects and garner
results, while prevention is an effort that aims at leaving no one at
stake of experiencing the most inhumane, disdainful act of exploitation.
Our stand is that prevention is when one does not wait for someone else
or other external forces to act on a cause, but when an action is taken
because of their own belief in the cause and in their own capacities to
do something about it.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;">Hence, SEALNet
Project Cambodia 2016 – Siem Reap (PC16 – SR)envisions to empower the
at-risk children of trafficking to become future leaders of their
vulnerable communities and strengthen the capacity of youth leaders in
contribution to Siem Reap.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;">Under two
pillars of SEALNet—leadership and service, the project aims at two
target groups: the local adolescents (mentees) and the at-risk
children of human trafficking in Siem Reap.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;">In the
leadership component, we hope to bring together the passionate youth
in Siem Reap to underscore their role and spark their interest in the
community services and intensively train them with necessary skills to
realize their potential and their community-based initiatives.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;">In the
service component, a comprehensive curriculum of human trafficking in
the local context is tailored to mentees and the children at risk of
human trafficking, so that they gain capacity to protect not only
themselves but also their community.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;">During this journey, the project members will come to internalize the central theme, ‘The Act of Empowering From Within’.</span></div>

changes in consumer culture and the reduction of resource consumption.

<h4 style="margin-bottom: 17px;">
Description:</h4>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;">Merit360
is the world's most significant program for global citizens committed
to tackle the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals. It is
innovative and inspirational. End of August 2016, World Merit will
gather 360 changemakers from all over the world in the USA for two
weeks, to work on projects that will contribute in tackling the SDGs.
These two weeks will focus on skill development, teamwork and
sustainable development projects. The program is meant to be life- and
world changing for the participants and the planet. It concludes in the
United Nations Headquarters in New York and will include many global
leaders as speakers and mentors. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;">As
participant, you will work as part of a team of 360 people representing
(almost) every country, and what you develop will be presented at the
United Nations and be implemented for the good of global society. You
will lead hundreds of thousands of people, from World Merit and beyond,
in taking action and ensuring a better future for all. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;">You will
start by getting to know the 360 participants in the World Merit
community platform. After researching issues, this group will gather in
the United States, with much of the program facilitated at Indian Head
Camp, before the conclusion convenes in the United Nations in New York.
The period from 27 August - 12 September 2016 will prove incredibly
important for you as an individual and we will work to make sure it is
also the start of something important for the planet. </span><span style="font-size: 12pt;"> </span></div>

you have awesome media or creative skills to bring to Merit360, then you
can also apply to become part of the 360 Media and Creative Team. To
make a real impact, we need to tell the world what we are doing! We are
looking for 60 people to support the work of the teams that are working
towards projects tackling the Sustainable Development Goals. Like the
other 360 delegates, you will take part in many of the workshops, listen
to the key notes and have the opportunity to work on the different
projects.</span></div>

<strong><span style="font-size: 12pt;">About the Fellowship:</span></strong></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;">The mission of the EFL Global Fellowship is to train and enable the next generation of global innovators in access to finance.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;">The
two-year fellowship provides a unique opportunity for young, driven
individuals to engage with a fast-paced startup in the field of
international development finance. In your first year, your mission will
be to propel EFL’s work by tackling projects across a spectrum of
business facets. The Fellowship will likely be based in Lima, Peru or
Boston, MA for the duration of the first year; personal geographical
preference will be taken into account. As the fellowship unfolds,
strengths, personal preference and company needs will define a
longer-term role at EFL.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;">Past fellows have had the ability to work on high-impact projects right out of school. Examples include:</span></div>
<ul style="text-align: justify;">
<li><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Designing testing interfaces that affect more than 10,000 unbanked entrepreneurs monthly</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Developing and implementing a mobile version of the EFL product</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Living on 3 continents and launching bank partnerships in Indonesia and Kenya</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Taking lead on alternative data R&D initiatives to dramatically increase predictive power of the EFL score</span></li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;">In your
first year, you could be asked to make contributions in sales,
marketing, business development, account management and technology and
product development. This will be an opportunity for career exploration
before finding your fit.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;">You will
be joining a tight-knit corps of friends and mentors – groups of Fellows
will periodically converge in the field to work on short-term projects
together. We guarantee at least six weeks of on-the-ground global
experience within your first year. Additionally, an important goal of
the Fellowship is to uncover and educate the future leaders of the
organization.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;">Your
success in both years of the Fellowship will depend on your ability to
learn quickly in situations that are foreign, to think critically
through complex challenges, to take initiative as opportunities emerge,
and to execute efficiently and effectively.</span></div>
