The First Winter School on the Analytics and Policy Design of Migration

The Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar opened in 2005 with the aim of training global leaders who will make a difference in their community and in the world. The Qatar campus is highly international and the research carried out in the School provides a forum for global scholarship and research on international and regional affairs.
This is the first Winter School organised by the University. Main focus of the academic event is to discuss the phenomenon of international migration from the economic perspective. The School will gather a group of international students and junior researchers interested in the topic of migration to advance their understanding through group discussion, presentation, lectures, and exchange of experience. There are 5 lectures scheduled on various topics relating to migration. Prof. Oded Stark, a distinguished fellow at the Centre for Development Research in Bonn, is the selected lecturer of the School. Candidates will be asked to submit a paper within 2 weeks from the end of the School where they discuss new and innovative ideas developed during the time spent in Qatar.
Venue: Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar (participants will stay in the Four Seasons Hotel in Doha, Qatar)
Dates: 6-12 January 2014
Eligibility: Candidates must hold a PhD in Economics (Obtained not before 2009) or be PhD students in economics.
Fees: If your paper is selected, the hosts will cover all the cost of participation, air travel, accommodation, and meals.
Candidates must submit their CV along with a sample article or a chapter of their PhD thesis to Dr. Ewa Kepinska, coordinator of the Winter School (SFSQWinterSchool@georgetown.edu).
