Youth Alliance Regional Internship Program

The World Youth Alliance Regional Internship Program is an opportunity for young people who are inspired  by the ideas and work of World Youth Alliance to contribute practically to its international and regional projects and to study more closely the ideas which have formed the organization. The program focuses  on three aspects: project management, training, and network building. As an intern, you can: (1) Learn about our mission to understand and articulate the dignity of the person. (2) Gain practical and theoretical knowledge about international, regional, and national policy-making. (3) Help your region grow socially and economically as you develop projects that uphold the value of each person. (4) Have the opportunity to build your own network and community in line with World Youth Alliance  programs.

Interns will be assigned to plan and manage one or two projects during their internship period. The types of projects interns get to work on are diverse and vary according to specific interests and skills of each person. Each project will fall under one of our three main thrusts which are Education, Advocacy, and Culture. Education: Our education program are designed to equip a person, of any age, the tools to promote and defend the dignity of the person. A variety of educational programs opportunities is offered to interns to develop a deeper understanding of the meaning of human dignity as well as a greater commitment to defending and promoting this essential truth. Ultimately, the desired educational outcome is the formation of individuals who embrace a worldview that situates the worth of every person at the center and whose lives reflect this understanding and commitment. Advocacy: World Youth Alliance actively participates at the United Nations, European Union, and other  regional/national governments institutions by offering language proposals, sharing grassroots experiences and working one-on-one with delegates to develop person-centered policies. Culture: The organization provides interns with the opportunity to encounter and experience the dignity of the human person. Participation in the arts and culture nurtures all dimensions of the human person – physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual – and in this way promotes the integral development of the  individual, contributing to the authentic development of society. Administrative Work: Interns will also be assigned to do administrative work at the WYA Asia Pacific office. They may be asked to do database management, writing business letters, filing documents,  managing WYA Asia Pacific’s online accounts, and creating marketing materials.

A signed copy of the WYA charter for new members. You will receive a confirmation receipt via email within four weeks of the internship application deadline. Q: What kind of interns are we looking for? Our internship program is open to university students, recent graduates, and young professionals. Ideal candidates possess a strong passion for the defense of human dignity. We seek committed members with strong communication abilities and organizational skills. Interns must also be able to motivate and inspire others and love to bring people together. Q: Do I have to be a WYA member in order to eligible for the internship? Yes, you have to be a WYA member to be accepted as an intern. You can become a member by signing the WYA Charter. Q: Who can apply and how many interns do you accept for each batch? The Asia Pacific Internship Program is open to all World Youth Alliance members in the Asia Pacific region with the ages of 16 to 30 years old. Internships are voluntary and may be done on a part-time or full-time basis for a period of 12 weeks. We usually accept about 6 interns. Q: Are interns required to finish the Track A Training? Yes, interns are required to undergo the Track A Training. They are also highly encouraged to finish it before the end of their internship. Interns need to be knowledgeable about WYA's history and mission as they represent the organization in various activities both regional and international. Q: Do volunteers get compensated? This is an unpaid internship. However, we do offer scholarships (subject for approval) to interns. Q: Can I choose my own shift and schedule? We give a specific time for the start and end of each internship batch. However, we are quite flexible with our volunteers’ schedule within those time frames. Our volunteers have the option of doing a part-time internship (fulfill 12 hours a week) or a full-time internship. We also offer an externship program wherein our volunteers submit their work through email and only report once a week to the office. Q: Who do I ask for my letter of references? We ask for recommendation letters to help us assess your character when it comes to working professionally. Your letters should come from people who can attest your skills and work experience. It can come from your professor, co-worker, team leader, coach, and organization head. It should not come from any of your family members.
