Global Peace Convention

Deadline: 30th November, 2013.
‘UNITY IN DIVERSITY’  BUILDING SOCIAL COHESION
FOR SUSTAINABLE PEACE THROUGH UNIVERSAL ASPIRATIONS, PRINCIPLES, AND VALUES.
A cultural, financial and economic hub, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will host the 2013 Global Peace Convention, engaging civil society and government leaders in a unique, collaborative exchange on innovative approaches to promoting sustainable peace, social cohesion and compassionate development.
The modern era has witnessed unprecedented technological development. Yet billions of the world’s people live in extreme poverty, and conflict based on religion, ideology and ethnicity continues to rage across the globe.
The need for moral and innovative leadership, which draws upon the principles and values of our shared human heritage, is critical in both confronting the challenges and utilizing the opportunities of the twenty-first century.
Hosted by the Global Peace Foundation in partnership with Malaysia’s Department of National Integration and Unity and Universiti Malaya, the 2013 Global Peace Convention (GPC) will draw upon the experience of multicultural, multi-ethnic Malaysia, a modern Islamic nation and parliamentary democracy with significant Christian, Hindu and Buddhist minorities.
The GPC will convene world leaders from government, academia, business, the nonprofit sector and the faith community to explore collaborative approaches to resolving conflict and advancing sustainable development.
