2) Application Deadline

17:00 on Tuesday, November 12, 2013
to the JICE JDS project Office in Vietnam by post or hand.
Application documents will not be returned for any reason. Late submission and incomplete application documents shall NOT be accepted.

3) Tentative Schedule

  • September 17, 2013: Start of Public Announcement
  • November 12, 2013: Deadline of Submission of Application Form and Required Documents
  • End of November, 2013: English and Basic Mathematics Examination
  • Middle of December, 2013: First Selection (Screening the documents) by University
  • Middle of January, 2014: Second Selection (Interview) by Accepting University
  • Middle of February 2014: Third Selection (Interview) by Operating Committee
  • Beginning of March, 2014: Notification to final successful candidates
  • March to May, 2014: Admission Procedures to Accepting University
  • End of July, 2014: Pre-departure Orientation (mandatory)
  • August, 2014: Departure for Japan

4. Note

Research Plan

In the JDS selections, each candidates will be evaluated her/his academic abilities enough to pursue the master program in Japan as well as the potential of the future contribution to the country. Thus, it is highly recommended to explain that the objective of your research plan be in connection with the development issues under applying Sub-program, and to rationalize how the study will be addressed in accordance with the career path, corresponding to the current position and responsibility in the belonging organization.
It is also recommended to study your applying university to make sure if the curriculums of the university and fields of specialization of faculty members are relevant to your research.
Remember that plagiarize from somebody's work or websites are strongly prohibited.

English & Math Exam

Every qualified applicant will be required to take English proficiency test as well as math test in Hanoi, Da Nang or Ho Chi Minh city in the end of November, 2013.
  • TOEFL for only applicants who has no official English score at the time of application. The test consists 3 parts with ‘Listening Comprehension (50 questions)' for 40 minutes, ‘Structure and Written Expression (40 questions)' for 25 minutes, and ‘Reading Comprehension (50 questions)' for 55 minutes.
  • Math test for all the applicants except for the applicants who apply for the graduate school of Law, Nagoya University. The test is around 60 minutes consists of Arithmetic operations, Solving fractions, Equations, Inequality, Matrix, Basic quadratic functions, Basic operations of exponential and logarithmic functions, Basic Integral and Differentiation, etc.
The scores will be used as reference purpose on the 1st selection by the accepting universities. Universities may require the applicants to have good command of English skill (TOEFL score of 500 or higher) and numeracy skills. Please be well-prepared yourself for the exams.
