NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON THE ART AND PRACTICE OF LEADERSHIP
The Art and Practice of Leadership is a three-day workshop for third and fourth year university students. The workshop, organized by BYLC and supported by the EMK Center, will offer a challenging, stimulating and personal journey that will invite you to question your deeply held assumptions and develop new competencies to exercise leadership effectively.
At the end of the workshop, we will host a graduation reception where you will have the opportunity to share ideas with distinguished leaders and innovators from the private, public and non-profit sectors.

Workshop Curriculum
Using a combination of lectures, case-in-point teaching, discussions, large class case analysis, small group case consultation and reflective exercises, we will push you out of your comfort zone to expand your bandwidth, to increase your capacity to diagnose a social system, and to lead courageously in times of chaos, conflict and uncertainty.

Program Details
Organizer: Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center (BYLC)
Supported by: Edward M. Kennedy (EMK) Center
Lead Instructor: Ejaj Ahmad, founder and president of BYLC, is a practitioner, instructor, and consultant of leadership. His personal leadership journey includes academic and professional exposures in four continents, more than twelve years of community campaign organizing and public speaking experience, and two years of formal instruction in leadership and communication under world renowned professors at Harvard. He holds a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and an MA (Hons) in Economics from St. Andrews University. Ejaj also speaks on leadership to diverse audiences, including, in recent years, Geneva, Kyoto, Nairobi, San Francisco, Washington DC, New Delhi, and Kuala Lumpur.
Eligibility: Undergraduate students in their third and fourth year of studies in an accredited university in Bangladesh are eligible to apply for the workshop.
Venue: EMK Center, 9th floor of the Midas Center, House 5, Road 16 (old 27), Dhanmondi, Dhaka 1209
Duration: 3 days, September 14 – September 16, 2013. Time: 9.30 am - 5.00 pm
Tuition fee: Full tuition fee will be covered by the EMK Center.
Registration fee: BDT 1,500 will have to be paid by the participant at the time of registration.

Please note that each “Round” represents a successive step for admission, and not a distinct period in which one may apply.



How to Apply
All interested students must complete the application form at www.bylc.org/apply-workshop. Both the applicant and his/her family should be aware that the program requires a high level of time-commitment and punctuality. After the initial screening process (Round 1) there will be an interview (Round 2) with the shortlisted applicants for the final selection of workshop participants.
Deadline for submitting applications is Saturday, August 24, 2013.
